The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai language and means “endless plains”, which is fitting since the park alone covers an area of 13,000 square kilometers. The Serengeti ecosystem includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Grumeti Reserve, Maswa Game Reserve, Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya and numerous properties. The ecosystem lies between the shores of Lake Victoria to the west, Lake Eyasi to the south, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. This vast ecosystem is synonymous with the annual wildebeest and zebra migration of more than two million animals that takes place in both the Serengeti and Kenya’s neighboring Masai Mara National Park.
Our park visitors can expect countless wildlife that you will experience up close in a way you wouldn’t expect. These include lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra and a variety of different antelope and gazelle species.
