Day 1 Tarangire National Park
Arrival and welcome at Kilimanjaro Airport. Over a refreshment, we will discuss travel plans and answer your questions. Then we will start for your first safari destination – Tarangire National Park. The drive to the national park takes us on well-maintained roads on the Great Northern Highway through Maasai country and a number of smaller villages. After check-in, you will very soon see the first wild animals that await you on a safari. Especially the animals for which the park is famous – elephants. Overnight in Karatu.
Day 2 Serengeti National Park
From Karatu we head towards the Serengeti after breakfast. The ride is over forested heights in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We follow the crater rim to a viewpoint where you can take your first photos of the crater.
On the way, we will visit one of the Maasai villages. You will be greeted with singing and the famous dances of the young warriors before you have the opportunity to tour the village and learn about the Maasai way of life.
After this short stopover, we are already on our game drive. At lunchtime, your safari guide will serve you a warm lunch in the bush. After that, you will continue your game drive and before sunset, you will arrive at your accommodation for the next two nights. Full-day game drive in Serengeti on day 3.
Day 3 Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is a vast and impressive expanse of grasslands, savannahs, and forests that is home to one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles. Famous for its annual great migration, with millions of wildebeest and other herbivores crossing the plains in search of fresh grazing land, the Serengeti offers safari enthusiasts a front-row seat to this extraordinary natural phenomenon. Whether camping under the stars or staying in luxury lodges, a safari in the Serengeti promises an unforgettable adventure where visitors experience the untamed beauty of the African wilderness up close and personal that you wouldn’t expect.
Day 4 Ndutu
On the edge of the southern Serengeti is the Ndutu Plain. This part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the best places to spot predators, enjoy the unique landscape of giant acacia trees, and panoramic views of Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek
The Ndutu area with its plains, lakes and swamps is the habitat of giraffes, impalas, dikdiks, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, genets, jackals and hundreds of species of exotic birds.
The best time to visit the Ndutu Plain begins at the end of December, when the herds of the Great Migration gradually arrive from the north to give birth to the offspring. During this calving season, which peaks around February, thousands of calves are born every day.
Day 5 Ngorongoro Crater
Today’s safari day starts at 6:30 am. Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to experience one of those unforgettable sunrises that can only be found in the Serengeti. Getting up early for your morning game drive will be rewarded with lions and other nocturnal prey hunters returning from their long night of hunting. For lunch, you are already on the floor of the crater. You will spend the rest of the day in the Ngorongoro Crater “hunting” the Big Five with your cameras. In the early evening, we arrive back at our well-known accommodation in Karatu.
Day 6 Lake Manyara Serengeti
After breakfast, we say goodbye in Karatu and reach the Manyara National Park after a short drive. A special attraction is tree-climbing lions; a unique phenomenon that can only be observed in this park. Nevertheless, you will find that wildlife is less present than in parks like the Serengeti. Here, your ability to observe, search, and find is required. With a little spirit of discovery, you can spot the animals of the park in the green of the forests.
Return to Arusha in the afternoon. Your driver will make sure you catch your flight home or your connecting flight to Zanzibar.
